Meanwhile, back with the trouble-makers…Abbie Hoffman is one of those individuals who embody so much of what’s best in us. Another reason to be disappointed by Pete Townsend is the way at Woodstock, Townsend whacked Abbie with his guitar when Abbie was attempting to generate support for imprisoned Detroit radical John Sinclair, shouting “Get off my fucking stage”. This song in no way does Abbie justice, & although it got changed a lot along the way, I did start off by stealing the basics from my old friend Charles Tyler, whose songs you can probably find on you tube if you’re lucky.
