This was never released. It's a sweary piece of bile, really... I can't recall which Famous Folkie had just been awarded an MBE.. personally I don't think workers in the tradition of The People's Music have any business accepting "honours" from The Ruling Class. The Ruling Class are after all the ones who have been ruining life chances for so many people for far too long.
It's probably also grumpy because I may well have been feeling more than usually overlooked & underbooked at the time. I'll definitely never get the chance to tell The Ruling Class to stick its offer of an honour up its right royal ruling arse. My own fault, of course; as if writing some songs about stuff that is generally considered "politics" - & current "politics" at that - isn't bad enough, chanson is clearly not hey-nonny-nonny friendly. "The Big Wheel" was a bit of a bad move there, obviously, being more attracted to the European urban experience than pre-industrial rural nostalgia, & of course, as this song indicates, I do keep fucking swearing, & no-one wants to hear That sort of language used in The People's Music, do they?
