I was booked to play a party in the middle of Wiltshire by someone I'd never met. It turned to be okay, much to my surprise. They put me up in this B&B which reminded me of the places we would go with my grandfather Harry when I was little, places where you could hear your life pass slowly, gently away in every tick of the clock. And my grandfather Ern lived in Summerhouse Avenue, in Heston. You could hear the clocks tick there too, before the traffic on the Great West Road & on the flightpaths to Heathrow drowned out any last chance of peace & quiet.
