1.
you could tell it was good friday, the way the station bar closed early, the way somebody said some body got found in black plastic sacks. all the latest flares & haircuts with no idea of where they're going, queued up outside the technodisco in the land of saturday night.... flea market curling at the edges, refugees from border wars, refugees from unemployment sell tourists bits of the berlin wall... Didi & Gogo drink Budw**ser in the Lucky Shamrock Bar.... What are we waiting for?
2.
yes to the golden & yes to the bronzed, to the shadowed & pale who need hands to hold onto, yes to the silver-tonged, yes to the swans, to the shipwrecked & rusted whose paintwork's all gone, to the wound you can't heal & the heel you can't help, all of our birthmarks & all of our scars, these thunderstruck ruins & question mark children, all of this asking, all of this asking... the blue sea says yes.
3.
Who'd have thought we'd find ourselves this no particular place to go, here in the People's Republic of Walthamstow?
4.
You saddle up your motorbike & take it to the wire, every wall you jump, the next one's always higher... the broken hopes, the broken toes, how you gonna make it till the final whistle blows? The king of Cool, the queen of Hearts, the berlin wall, it all comes apart... everybody puts their faith in gaffer tape..
5.
they offer you Beyonce, George Formby's dead & gone the compensation never did come through you're knocking back prosecco, asbestos in your lungs, what did you expect, she'd wait for you? & the ambulancea good 10 years too late...
6.
here's to the rhythm, here's to the rhyme a river of moonlight & the republic of midnight
7.
if we lose the art of loving what there is & what we are what is there left but dust & ashes, dead princesses?
8.
i dream i'm going down the open mike just me & my guitar we're going to get ourselves discovered singing hallelujah you've had your 15 minutes now all that you're allowed is a moment on an iphone & a lifetime on a cloud
9.
As far as the imagination can see, ghosts of clouds traverse blue infinity gracefully they leave no footprint, no echo of their perfect passing hangs upon the mid-ear, only this handful of scribble maintains they were ever there & we were ever here... for all the amateurs, bigots, lightweights, tourists & fuckwits who photograph everything & see nothing like a carousel goes round how come you never let me down? (something like that, anyway)
10.
o yeah, yeah, yeah.....
